Who You Gonna Call...

This is the CIA's "Terrorist Busters" logo, no joke (you can see it on their page here).

I'm not entirely sure of it's purpose. Is it a recruiting technique for the under 30 crowd? An attempt to make 'anti-terrorism' hip with the kids? A dazzling show of the CIA's graphics technology?

Are we sure the 'C' in CIA doesn't stand for 'Creativity', cause I'd say these folks have been putting in some overtime at the Arts n Crafts corner.

Terrorist Sells?

These are some images from ads for Ripley department stores that were recently published in two Chilean papers; El Mercurio and La Tercera. The perversion of the use of imagery of torture to sell jeans is matched perhaps only by the fact that torture is still a searingly memorable part of the political experience of many Chileans.
[Thanks to Gavin, and indirectly to Lesley and Marcial, for the images]

Update: Following lobbying by Amnesty International, Ripley has agreed to pull the ads. More details here.
